Computer Studies (K4 / K5 Program)

Computer Studies is an integrated part of our K4/K5 curriculum, designed to introduce young learners to basic computer skills in a structured and developmentally appropriate way.

At ages 4–5, students are taught foundational computer concepts that support early learning, coordination, independence, and classroom readiness for primary school.

Program Requirements

To participate effectively in Computer Studies, students are required to have a laptop computer.
Tablets are not permitted for this program.

Each laptop must include:
•    A physical keyboard
•    A mouse or trackpad
•    A working screen
•    All standard computer components

This allows the teacher to teach effectively and ensures students gain proper hands-on experience using a real computer.

Computer Studies Curriculum Focus

The Computer Studies curriculum for K4/K5 includes:
•    Identifying parts of a computer (screen, keyboard, mouse, CPU, speakers)
•    Learning basic mouse skills (clicking, dragging, scrolling)
•    Developing keyboard awareness (letters, numbers, spacebar, enter key)
•    Opening and closing simple programs with guidance
•    Using educational learning software
•    Following simple on-screen instructions
•    Building early digital responsibility and care for equipment
•    Supporting fine motor skills, coordination, and focus

All lessons are teacher-guided, interactive, and tailored to the learning level of four and five-year-old students.

Textbook Requirement
•    Computer Studies Textbook: $25.00

The textbook supports classroom lessons and helps reinforce learning through age-appropriate activities.

K4 / K5 Music Studies

Music is a core subject within our K4 and K5 program and is treated with the same care and intention as other areas of learning.

At this stage, children are introduced to music through guided instruction and hands-on engagement, allowing them to both experience and understand music. Students explore instruments, sound, rhythm, and timing while also being introduced to foundational music concepts in a developmentally appropriate way.

Instruction balances practical engagement with early music understanding, helping children connect what they are doing with why it works. As they participate, children learn to listen carefully, follow musical cues, recognize patterns, and respond with purpose.

As a subject, music supports:
•    Listening and attention skills
•    Coordination and control
•    Pattern recognition and early mathematical thinking
•    Emotional expression and confidence
•    Discipline and classroom readiness

Because music is taught consistently, children build familiarity, skill, and confidence over time. This structured exposure prepares them for continued musical development while supporting overall academic and personal growth.
