The Creative Minds Preschool Program is a specially designed early learning class for children ages 18 months -7 years old who may need extra time and attention to succeed. This program is ideal for students who may struggle in a fast-paced traditional classroom setting due to challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, speech delays, developmental delays, or simply needing more time to grasp concepts. We understand that not all children learn the same way or at the same speed, and we believe in honoring the individual pace of every child. That’s why this program was created — to offer a more relaxed, understanding, and supportive space where children can truly thrive.
Unlike many preschool classes that follow a quick structure and move rapidly through lessons, this program slows things down and focuses on meeting each student right where they are. Some students at age 6 or 7 may still function academically or socially at the level of a 4-year-old — and that’s okay. Others may have completed some of the basics in reading or math but aren’t ready to transition into a more rigorous kindergarten setting. That’s why we give parents the option to keep their child enrolled in this gentle, structured preschool environment up to age 7. This allows students to continue developing core skills without being rushed or overwhelmed, giving them a stronger and more confident foundation before they move on.
It’s important to understand that this is not a special education program. It is not labeled or separated in any way. It is simply a classroom where children work at their own pace using appropriate books, activities, and hands-on resources tailored to their individual needs. While we do accommodate learning differences and developmental delays, our focus is on building strong academic and life skills in a calm, respectful, and engaging way — with the goal of helping students grow and build confidence in both learning and everyday life.
Core subjects taught in this program include early math skills such as number recognition, counting, patterns, simple addition and subtraction, and basic problem-solving. In phonics and reading, students are introduced to letters, letter sounds, sight words, word blending, and early reading strategies, all at a pace that suits their current level. Handwriting is also a major part of the program, with children learning proper pencil grip, tracing letters and numbers, and gradually forming sentences as they are ready. We also introduce important life skills, such as self-help routines, following directions, social interaction, emotional regulation, and basic hygiene or classroom responsibilities, which are key to helping each child become more independent.
One of the most important features of this program is its structure. While children will follow a daily schedule, the day is not packed with back-to-back lessons or high-pressure academics. After completing core subjects, students will spend time engaged in creative learning, storytelling, hands-on projects, music and movement, sensory play, outdoor activities, and other experiences that support their development without overloading them. Regular breaks are built into the day to help children stay calm, focused, and emotionally regulated. We are mindful of overstimulation, and our classroom is designed to be warm, welcoming, and sensory-friendly.
This program is built on the belief that children learn best when they feel safe, understood, and unhurried. We want parents to clearly understand that children in this class are not expected to perform or move as quickly as those in a traditional classroom — and that’s by design. Every child develops differently, and we believe in giving each child the space, time, and support they need to succeed. Whether your child is just starting preschool or needs an extra year or two to build their skills, the Creative Minds Preschool Program can be the nurturing foundation they need to move forward with confidence.
